Why does it take my computer a long time to detect proxy settings?
Question by ?Kaylee?: Why does it take my computer a long time to detect proxy settings?
When I got into the internet it takes so long to load. Im pretty sure it has something to do with this proxy settings thing, becauseto the bottom left were loading/downloading/service information is for the browser and website it says “Detecting proxy settings”. It takes it at least 2 minutes to do this proxy detecting.
Once it’s done doing that the internet works fine, and it’s not slow at all. Im guessing it’s a setting or something . . . how do I stop this proccess or make it go faster?

You need to look at internet settings – if it’s set to automatically detect a proxy, and you’re at home and don’t have a proxy (that you know of) then this will take a while. Set this to ‘no proxy’ and hey presto.
