Q&A: Is there a way to force IM to stay with a single proxy, instead of changing proxies with the browser?

Question by Vicci V: Is there a way to force IM to stay with a single proxy, instead of changing proxies with the browser?

Because I use multiple proxies at work (don’t ask why; it’s a tedious answer), I have trouble with IM when I have to switch my IE browser to a different proxy, such as one that can only connect to local servers. Is there any known way of telling IM to stick with a single proxy no matter what is going on in the rest of the computer?

    Try using this website

I’m using Cloakfish as proxy, that does not cause these problems.

I suggest you use Firefox instead of IE and use Cloakfish for the proxies.
Then configure the proxy you need in IE and your IM will stay at it.

There is no other solution as long as you use an IM that uses the IE settings
