Question by xg6: How do I read the proxy material for the stocks I own?

I get voting material for stocks but never read the proxy books that are included in the mailings. They are made up of endless pages of statistics and I have no idea how to interpret it. Can anyone give me some tips on how to read the proxy

Just fill out what is recommend. If you aren’t sure, just choose abstain. That’s what I do.

    If you don’t understand the materials or the question being voted on, you should choose to abstain on your ballot. If you would like to learn in order to make an educated decision, you should read a book on financial statement analysis and/or corporate finance, it will help you better understand the materials in the proxy. I recommend the following books if you are truly interested:

    “The Interpretation of Financial Statements” by Ben Graham
