If you school is smart enough to implement a proxy server, they are also probably smart enough to block you from changing the proxy server. Also, they can also implement what’s called a “transparent” proxy, which basically just filters all web traffic through a proxy server at the router level. Since there’s nothing to configure on the individual machines, there is no way to bypass that from the individual machine.

You can, however, usually use SSL secured (https://) addresses, as most web filters can’t (actually they can, they just don’t) filter SSL secured urls.

Circumventing Internet access control systems with web proxies to access unauthorized web sites is a violation of school computer usage policy. You will get suspended and/or banned from using school computers when you get caught. Use school computers for school work, and myspace can wait until you get home. Do you really want your teachers and school administrators knowing what you are posting on myspace anyways?
