How can one tell the difference between an IP and a proxy when posting on a website?
Question by Kykliky: How can one tell the difference between an IP and a proxy when posting on a website?
Other than searching the ip/proxy on a proxy site or looking up it up with google or another search engine (as sometimes even if it is a proxy it won’t always show up by searching) what other possible ways are there to tell whether a person is posting at a forum with their real ip or using a proxy?
True, that is extremely unlikely.

You really can’t without investigating each individual IP. There really isn’t a generic way to tell. I suppose if you see multiple users coming from the same IP address, that would be a sign, but what are the odds of that?
