Question by : How can I unblock websites without using a proxy? Can I change my IP address and use one from America?

If I had an American IP address would it make it seem like I’m still in the US and that way I can go to any website? I just want to use something other than a proxy to unblock websites.

No, using a different IP address on your internet connection would not work.

Your ISP routers are only expecting traffic from their IP address ranges, so when they see packets coming from and IP address that is not one of theirs, they drop the packets and do not transmit them.

As a result, even if you were to change your IP address, your packets would never get past your ISP’s first network device. Sorry, you have to use a proxy.

Everything he said is correct — if you changed your IP address to someone else’s, all the return packets would go to that person’s computer instead of yours (a popular technique in DDoS attacks).

Check out Tor for the best usage of proxies: http://www.torproject.org/

I’ve switched to a personal vpn, http://www.surfbouncer.com instead of proxies. Works all the time and hasn’t been blocked.

I use IP Privacy software to change my ip address into a US one. It allows me to access blocked websites and bypass filters. I don’t know what else I could recommend you: http://www.privacy-pro.com
