Question by Real Red Devil: Are your uploads and downloads traceable when using a proxy server?

I am just asking to make sure, because I got an email from my internet company forwarding an email from Paramount about a copyright breach. I do not want this to happen again and I want to be safe! When downloading torrents am I traceable using a proxy?

all uploads and downloads are traceable by your ISP, in your case Paramount have contacted your ISP.

I want to be safe! & torrents do not go together.

When downloading torrents am I traceable using a proxy? yes, your ISP knows all.

Even using a proxy they can trace you after they get a court order.

  3. Death.Before.Dishonor says:

There is always an exit node which can “track” where you are coming from.

    EDIT:
This excludes services such as Tor or IRC.

All proxies will leak your real IP address via several protocols including Flash and Java. None of them are secure, only and illusion of privacy.
